A farmhouse in the hills, an estate, a vineyard—this is the foundation of San Patrignano, a winery born from a profound vision of hope, resilience, and human potential. Established in the 1970s by Vincenzo Muccioli, San Patrignano began as a rehabilitation community, providing individuals struggling with addiction a chance to rebuild their lives through meaningful work and a deep connection to nature.
The vineyards became both a sanctuary and a symbol of transformation. In the early days, production was modest, focusing on Sangiovese and Trebbiano wines. Grapes were harvested by hand, crushed underfoot, and vinified with a single wine press and a handful of wooden barrels. Even then, there was a boldness in their approach, as evidenced by the creation of a sparkling wine made from Sangiovese—a testament to the community’s innovative spirit.
Over the years, San Patrignano’s commitment to excellence mirrored the personal journeys of those within the community. The estate expanded to include different varietals and produces wines of remarkable concentration and character to this day.
