Meet the Founders - Jasmine

The who's who behind Finestro

With a middle name inspired by a winery in Italy's Veneto region, wine has always been part of Jasmine's life.

Gifted a WSET Level 1 course as a farewell present from a job in 2020, Jasmine completed the course, and later continued on to complete Level 2. Though toying with the idea of gaining the Level 3 Award, she feels quite strongly about not over-complicating the tasting of wine.

"Wine tasting should always be an individual palate-driven activity - highly accessible, extremely personal and above all, enjoyable," says Jasmine.

"I admire people who can speak about wine as if it is a friend. I love the connection and feeling that comes from being able to describe wine, not just by a list of flavour profile classifications and winemaking techniques, but by a feeling, or a memory of a time or taste experience."

When ideating the Finestro platform, the notion of inclusivity and simplicity was very important to both Jasmine and co-founder, Rien Wolff. As a result, Finestro is a place that connects wine drinkers to wine makers, in an uncomplicated way.

"Finestro honours and celebrates boutique, independent producers who make small batch wines, sustainably. Our unique platform is Australia's first and only wine sales platform that directly links the buyer to the producer, offering a cellar door sale, in support of their production."

Essentially a boutique beverage marketplace, Finestro was designed to be smart, simple and fun.

"Wine should not be stuffy and exclusive, it should be interesting and inviting," says Jasmine. "Wine should speak to the consumer in a way that is more than just a drink. Wine tells a story, and Finestro is a collection of stories from really good wine makers - storytellers of terroir, technique and connection."

Having worked across marketing, media, education and communication, Jasmine loves a good story. Fond of words and wine, Finestro is a blend of these spaces for her.

"The best stories are like an excellent wine - they last well!" Says Jasmine, "Good stories ebb and flow, and teach lessons in good taste. Much like wine, with each vintage presenting an expression of the year that was, the earth and the fruit, and winemaker's intent etched into the bottle".

Busy with Finestro, Jasmine is focused on brand growth and quality partnership opportunities.

She enjoys a wine discovery journey, preferably with friends, over lunch. The perfect partnership.
